Legal Assistant

Lela Waters was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended Hume-Fogg High School before beginning her undergraduate studies in criminal justice at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She later transferred to Middle Tennessee State University, where she completed her degree in Murfreesboro in 2023.

After shadowing at the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s Office, Lela accepted a position there as a Death Investigator Assistant. She later transitioned to a role with the Metro Nashville Police Department in the NCIC division, where she served as an assistant shift supervisor. After moving to Knoxville, she joined The Baker Law Firm.

Lela looks forward to advancing in the legal field, and she is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s work. Her background in criminal justice, death investigation support, and law enforcement administration gives her a strong foundation for assisting clients and supporting the legal team.

Outside of work, Lela enjoys reading and crocheting. She also teaches painting classes a couple of times a week, and she loves finding new ways to challenge her creativity.
